Galaxy Nexus launches in India
Samsung's Galaxy Nexus, the 4.7-inch Google Phone, seems to be cursed with indefinite delays as far as the Indian launch is concerned. It was first rumored to be launched in December, and hence we had advised
every one to put a hold on a new Android phone's purchase for the festive season. But then it got delayed until January.
Galaxy Nexus (GT-I9250) has a 4.65-inch Super Amoled HD screen with 1280x720 pixel resolution. The front panel of this smartphone is devoid of any hardware or even capacitive buttons.
Under the 8.94mm slim form factor, Galaxy Nexus houses a dual-core 1.2 GHz Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 mobile processor coupled with 1 GB RAM and 16 GB onboard memory. For graphics, this smartphone packs the PowerVR SGX 540 graphics chip clocked at 384 Mhz.
Earlier this month we had reported that Galaxy Nexus will be launching in India by end of November, but sadly, according to our trusted sources, the launch has been delayed till end of December or early January. But the good news is that we are expecting the launch price to be Rs.32,900 (approx $660) for the 16GB variant!
We can now confirm that Samsung has rescheduled the launch of Galaxy Nexus in India to January. It was earlier slated for a December launch. India was in the first wave of Nexus launch countries. For the Nexus smartphone, Google pairs up with one handset vendor and offers the “pure Android” experience, which coincides with the launch of a major Android update. The Nexus smartphones also are the first in line to get subsequent Android updates. The Galaxy Nexus is the only Android smartphone out there at the moment that runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and has been designed specifically for the new OS.
