Bajaj Auto launches 'Duke 200' at Rs 1.18 lakh
We’ve just gotten wind of the KTM Duke 200 being launched on the 24th of January 2012. Bajaj Auto chose to not participate at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo, ostensibly as a measure to give its important launches the limelight they deserve. Though the Auto Expo is a big stage, many manufacturers followed this approach to avoid their important launches getting lost in the din. Therefore, the Auto Expo mainly saw unveils, rather than launches, to build consumer interest in the product.
Bajaj Auto has been able to price the KTM Duke 200 aggressively as it has achieved over 95% localisation. KTM PowerWear (accessories) and KTM PowerParts (Mechandise) have also been launched today. The KTM Duke 350 is expected next year, whereas the Superduke will arrive in 2014. The Duke 200 will be available at 34 dedicated KTM stores in the country. These stores will also sell the Kawasaki Ninja 250R and 650R. Key features of the KTM Duke 200 include the Trellis Frame, aluminum swing arm, Upside Down forks and a multiuction cockpit to name a few. Deliveries of the Duke 200 start by the first week of February and the bike is available in orange colour only.
Bajaj Auto has decided to sell 'Duke' through all its 32 pro-biking showrooms, which has now been transformed into exclusive KTM outlets. Besides, there will be 40 service centres dedicated only for KTM bikes.
