BlackBerry Curve 9220 launched in India Rs 10,999
Research in Motion launched in India what it called its most affordable
BlackBerry smartphone, part of an aggressive push in one of its few growing
markets. The new Blackberry Curve 9220 is priced in India at Rs 10,990,
higher than the price of Curve 8520, which is RIM's best-selling phone in
India, and comes with an introductory offer to download free applications
worth Rs 2,500.
"The new BlackBerry Curve 9220 offers a unique mobile experience that young
Indians will love thanks to its affordable pricing and unmatched messaging
and social connectivity features," RIM Managing Director India Sunil Dutt
told reporters.
To say it in a line, the 9220 is a thinner, slightly sleeker 8520 with the
new BlackBerry OS 7.1; it is the first BlackBerry to boast of FM radio and
in what few will focus on but is perhaps the most important aspect in my
opinion—has the best battery on any BlackBerry smartphone available today.
