Samsung launches Series 5 Ultrabooks in India
Samsung today launched its new 33-cm (13-inch) and 35.6-cm (14-inch) Series 5
Ultra notebooks in the Indian market. Featuring a slim design profile with rich
feature sets and an Intel Core i5 processor, these ultrabooks provide users with
near instant starts using FastStart and ExpressCache storage.
Taking its design cues from their existing notebook PC lines, particularly the high-end
Series 9, the Series 5 Ultrabook features sleek lines and a cool, sophisticated design.
To ensure ease-of-use, while on the move, the 13-inch variant is just 14.9 to 17.6mm
thin and weighs 1.42kg (with SSD). It features the Intel Core i5 processor with 8GB
memory, up to 500GB storage and 16GB SSD with ExpressCache. Consumers can
also choose from a 128GB SSD or 256GB SSD, as their preferred storage. To offer
maximum connection to other devices, the 13-inch model also carries a full-size
HDMI port, along with one USB 3.0, two USB 2.0, 4-in-1 multi SD card slot,
Ethernet and webcam.
Most ultrabooks in the market use an SSD for storage. But Samsung has relied on
traditional hard disk. To make sure that performance doesn't suffer much due to
it, the company has utilized Intel's iSSD (integrated SSD) technology by
embedding 16GB flash storage within the ultrabooks.
The 13-inch Ultrabook will retail at Rs.48,990, while the 14-inch will sell
for Rs.54,390.
